Sorotan utama malam itu tertuju pada Kendrick Lamar. Rapper asal Compton, California, tersebut tampil sebagai pemenang terbesar dengan membawa pulang lima piala dari sembilan nominasi. Termasuk salah satu kategori paling prestisius: Record of the Year.
Kemenangan itu sekaligus mengukuhkan Kendrick Lamar sebagai rapper dengan koleksi Grammy terbanyak sepanjang sejarah.
