BONTANG – In a bold display of loyalty and protest, 25 officials from the DPC and PAC of PKB Bontang have collectively resigned. This move comes in response to the controversial dismissal of Basri Rase as the Chairman of PKB Bontang by the DPW PKB Kaltim.
The resignation ceremony took place at the PKB Bontang West Branch secretariat on Jalan Brigjend Katamso, Belimbing Village, on Saturday (22/6/2024).
Khoirul Anas, Chairman of the PKB Bontang West Branch, expressed their solidarity with Basri Rase, praising his leadership for significantly advancing the party under the auspices of Gus Dur.
“We want to stay true to our Chairman, Pak Basri. He has propelled our party forward. From having no seats, we achieved three seats in 2019, and this year we have secured four seats, which we see as a testament to his successful leadership,” he explained.
As individuals who have grown under Basri Rase’s mentorship, many officials feel compelled to support the man who now serves as the Mayor of Bontang. “We believe Pak Basri is a worthy role model. We cannot overlook his achievements. Success speaks for itself,” he added.
Khoirul Anas further stated that their mass resignation aims to concentrate efforts on ensuring Basri Rase’s victory in the upcoming Bontang local elections. “Moving forward, we await directives from the campaign team and supporting parties of Pak Basri – Chusnul Dhihin,” he concluded.
To underscore the seriousness of their resignation, the officials ceremoniously removed various party emblems, including name boards, party uniforms, membership cards, and flags.
This dramatic gesture highlights the deep-seated loyalty and dissatisfaction among PKB Bontang officials, attracting attention and raising questions about the future direction of the party under new leadership. (*)
